Today is National "Johnny Appleseed Day."  Get your Reader/Writer Notebook. As you read today, think about your main character. Would your main character make a good national character? Be ready to discuss. 
Trivial Fact of the Day: Cyanide is a poison, and apple seeds contain a small dose of a cyanide-sugar compound as a plant- defense against herbivores. It's not enough to poison, however, to harm humans who have a natural detoxification sysyem.
