It’s May 8.
Today is “No Socks Day.”  Is it warm enough outside where you live to
celebrate this one yet?

Trivial Fact of the Day:   Our word sock is derived from the Latin soccus, which was a loose fitting slipper worn by Roman comic actors.
Interesting Quote of the Day:  “You are never going to find a man whose socks don’t get dirty or who doesn’t snore.”  --Helen Reddy (American singer)
Vocabulary Word of the Day:  laconic (adjective) – describe someone’s writing style that is not overly wordy with the word laconic.  Whose books have you read that could be called laconic, and what writer is the exact opposite of laconic?

Today is Book Club day. Get into your Book Clubs and begin reading. 20 minutes of silent reading. Begin Angry Birds Literature packets. Review what is expected on Author Study.

Book Fair tomorrow during class. It's Buy one, get one. Bring money to buy some awesome books.
