It’s September 26.
Today is National “Johnny Appleseed Day.”  What other fruit-related national character might you create and put in a story?

Trivial Fact of the Day:   Cyanide is a poison, and apple seeds contain a small dose of  a cyanide-sugar compound as a plant-defense against herbivores.  It’s not enough poison, however,  to harm humans who have a natural detoxification system.
Interesting Quote of the Day:  “Life is a shipwreck, but we must not forget to sing in the lifeboats.”  --Voltaire (French author of Candide)
Vocabulary Word of the Day:  begrudge  (verb) – This action word means to envy or resent someone.  Can you identify a character from a book who begrudges other characters?
