It’s May 21.
Today begins “National Backyard Games Week.”  Write out some
step-by-step directions for playing your favorite backyard game.

Trivial Fact of the Day:  Croquet reached the South Pole in 2005 when American scientists became the first to play a game there in the snow outside the South Pole Observatory.
Interesting Quote of the Day:  “Games lubricate the body and the mind.”  --Ben Franklin (American author and inventor)
Vocabulary Word of the Day:  aberration (noun) – this fancy noun means the act of departing from the normal or usual course.  Playing croquet at the South Pole is an aberration.   What other backyard game aberrations can you list?

Today, we are going to start with Channel One News. Next, we are going to read, Appollo and Arachne.
